GPT-4o
Vision-language model Generally availableOpenAI high-intelligence flagship model supporting multimodal text and image reasoning across complex analytical, conversational, and technical tasks.
Overview
GPT-4o ('omni') is OpenAI's flagship multimodal model designed to integrate text, visual, and reasoning capabilities natively into a single architecture. Released in May 2024, GPT-4o delivers GPT-4 Turbo-level intelligence while offering significantly faster response times and improved cost efficiency for both developer API workloads and interactive consumer experiences.
The model features a 128,000-token context window and supports up to 16,384 output tokens per completion request. It processes text and high-resolution images as native inputs, excelling at vision-language tasks such as document OCR, chart analysis, architectural diagram inspection, and visual reasoning. GPT-4o offers native support for tool and function calling, structured JSON output, system prompts, and log probabilities.
GPT-4o is available as a hosted proprietary API endpoint via OpenAI Direct API and major cloud aggregators. It does not provide open weights or support local deployment.
